Hiwot's journey begins with her first pregnancy at age 16, the result of which puts her in a rocky marriage. Although she tries to make her marriage work, his abusive behavior makes it difficult. Hiwot reaches a point where she knows she must take matters into her own hands, but even then, she discovers it's not that easy.
