Betengna Radio Diaries Stirs Curiosity During the Great Ethiopian Run

betengna_great_runAddis Ababa, November 22, 2009- This year's Great Ethiopian Run was memorable for Betengna staff members who participated in the race. Two of us ran the 10 km run along with the other 30,000 reported participants. We proudly wore our Betengna T-shirts labeled with the "Betengna Listen In!" logo.

During the race, some people were curious about our T-shirts and asked us what Betengna meant. As we ran, we were delighted to satisfy their curiosity and explain Betengna to them. Others knew about Betengna and shared their comments and support for the program:

"Oh! Betengna... please say hi to Senait," called out a young man, "Oh! Betengna Radio Program... I know it," said a young woman. "I listen to your program on Sheger F.M. on Monday night...your program is good and it gives good lessons to society," said another woman. "You were on F.M Addis... Where are you now? ... But we couldn't get your phone!," exclaimed another man.

As the Addis sun beat down on us and we looked forward to reaching the finish line and soothing our sore feet, more runners slowed down to take a look at our T-shirts and then ran on in their struggle to beat exhaustion and finish the race.

Go Betengna!... Betengna!... Betengna!... Betengna!...
